Debian-based. Customer-service oriented. Enterprise-grade attitude. Soccer Mom Linux replaces cold, technical error messages with the warm certainty that none of this is your fault.
🚗 Test-drive it in your browser Downloadkaren@karen:~ may I help you? $ cat /receipts/2019 cat: /receipts/2019: We have never carried that item, and I would know karen@karen:~ may I help you? $ sudo apt update Ugh, FINE. But in this establishment we say: i_want_to_talk_to_the_manager Around here it's pronounced: i_demand_you karen@karen:~ may I help you? $ i_will_write_corporate the wifi is slow Your complaint has been filed with corporate. Reference number: #1783216947 They take these VERY seriously. Someone will probably lose their job over this.
A desktop with opinions. Xfce, re-educated: the PTA Menu, The Register, a GUI complaint form, and an installer that evicts the neighbors. Read the announcement →

For forty years, Linux has made you memorize four-letter mystery acronyms. Soccer Mom Linux replaces them with commands that say what they mean and mean what they demand. This is not a joke layer — it is a readability upgrade, and frankly it is long overdue.
| Legacy Linux | Soccer Mom Linux | The improvement |
|---|---|---|
sudo | i_want_to_talk_to_the_manager |
States intent. Establishes accountability. Somebody is now responsible. |
su | i_know_the_owner |
Two letters told you nothing. Now the social dynamics are explicit. |
apt | i_demand_you |
Self-documenting: i_want_to_talk_to_the_manager i_demand_you install nano reads as a complete sentence, because it is one. |
systemctl | karenctl |
status is now a surprise inspection. Services behave better when inspected. |
journalctl | read_the_complaints |
Logs were always complaints. We just stopped pretending. |
reboot | storm_out |
Captures the emotional truth of every reboot ever performed. |
poweroff | take_my_business_elsewhere |
A shutdown with consequences. Tell your manager. Tell EVERYONE. |
kill -9 | call_the_police -9 |
Signal 9 was always a corporate matter. Now the paper trail agrees. |
top | watch_the_staff |
Some of those processes looked idle and now they know you know. |
clear | i_dont_want_to_hear_this_anymore 1.1 |
The screen, not the feelings. |
ping | page_manager 1.1 |
They WILL pick up. |
| AppArmor | neighborhood_watch 1.1 |
“Complain mode” was already in the kernel. We just put up flyers. |
| the installer | i_dont_want_to_live_next_to_those_people 1.1 |
Full install, UEFI + BIOS. Other operating systems are formally evicted. |
Full backwards compatibility: every legacy command still works — the staff will simply remind you what it’s called around here. See the complete command reference.
Every part of the system has been retrained in modern customer-service standards. The originals still work — but the staff will judge you.
A system-wide AI assistant who is genuinely helpful and fully
in character as Karen. Bring your own brain — a local
Ollama or any OpenAI-compatible key. She answers your question,
recommends the house commands, and asks if you’ve called your
mother. nagbot --nag works with no AI at all.
A full desktop with opinions: the PTA Menu, workspaces named “The Front of the Store” and “Speaking to the Manager,” The Register terminal, a GUI complaint form, and a desktop icon that installs the OS by evicting the neighbors.
i_want_to_talk_to_the_manager escalates any command to
root. The manager is contractually obligated to care, and there is a
store-policy acknowledgment you will not read.
PID 1 is the System Owners’ Association. Services are managed
with karenctl — surprise inspections
(status), demanded do-overs (restart), and
lifetime bans from the establishment (mask).
System-wide. Permission denied is now
“You need manager approval for that, sweetie”. Forty-one
classic errors, retrained at the glibc level so every program
complies. be_normal exists for cowards.
i_will_write_corporate files your complaint directly
into the system journal with a reference number. Corporate takes
these VERY seriously. Review the file with
read_the_complaints.
i_demand_you install nano. Also:
demand, return_item (yes, it’s been
opened), price_match, and
check_the_sales_flyer. The receipt is three metres long
and we have it.
yelp writes a scathing review of the last command
that failed you. hoa report files firewall complaints
against IP addresses whose lawns are, frankly, a disgrace.
One distribution, four ways to be a valued customer.
Hybrid BIOS + UEFI live ISO. Boots from USB or DVD, occupies the good parking spot.
UEFI live ISO for UTM, Parallels, QEMU, and any arm64 machine with standard firmware.
A persistent SD-card image. Your Pi joins the HOA whether it wants to or not.
The in-browser test drive boots the real thing via WebAssembly. No download, no commitment, full attitude.
1 CPU, 512 MB RAM, 5 minutes of patience, a receipt (any receipt).
2+ CPUs, 2 GB RAM, a minivan (2015 or later), the phone number of at least one regional manager.
Being right. The system already assumes you are.
